To the next point of this journal:
A lot of people ask me about where i find my models. So first off when i started shooting portraits i asked a school-friend of mine. You could otherwise ask friends or family. For the beginning it's always good to have someone you know and who won't be disappointed if your pictures are only crap. So for a good start you should not ask a stranger or a model from a modelsite. He/She will be angry like hell and punch you in the face.
If you don't have friends or family who are willing to model for you, try self portraits for a while.

Then if you feel like going a step further you might want to have a studio for yourself. Sure a building side floodlight is fun and keeps you warm... But studios look way more professional.
Here in Austria it's that almost 90% of all photoclubs have their own studio with everything you need (except bouncers). Search for a photoclub near you. Ask them if they have a studio. Become a member. Get to know other photographers, exchange knowledge and be introduced in the arts of studio-lighting.
In my photoclubs (I'm a member of two. one in feldkirch and one in linz) i'm almost the youngest one. Most of the members are around 50. I like to talk with "older ones" about photography because they come from a completely other side than myself... And they all have Hasselblads.

If you don't need a studio: Good for you Go outside and pimp your landscape and nature with a beautiful model.

If you're done with shooting friends and family and you want to use new faces you might want to check out the nearby deviants section from deviantArt. You might find someone who's into photograpyh himself/herself and would like to model for you.
Currently the Nearby Deviants feature is down but i hope it will be back soon.

Another possibility you have are complete strangers you meet on the streets or in bars or whatever. Preparing yourself a business card might help or you might come out to look like a perv.

On the Internetz are a whole lot of so called "model-homepages" and you might just want to google for something like "model / models yourplace".
Another possibility is MySpace (Yeah we all hate it). Try the search for models in your homeland there. You might find something beautiful. [link]
